EPISODE 153
Growing your writing business can happen in different stages.
Today, I’m talking about that one secret you should be doing to grow!
Today, I’m talking about ways to make your business grow. How fast can you grow? How do you grow? What is growth? Listen to this new inspiring episode now!
As we dive into this topic, I want you to really think of what “growth” really means. Does it mean a broader income? Or growth in your skills? Because you can do both and you need to focus on one to grow the other.
The cool thing about freelancing is that you can grow as big as you want. If you’re an employee, you get the same number of income doing things at the same number of hours but it’s going to make you stuck.
In freelancing, you can grow, grow, and grow if you wanted to.
You can also grow in your skillset. As a freelancer, you can always grow your skillset in every area of writing, or you can specialize in one area over another to have a little more in your pocket with the services that you can offer.
On the employee side, you can’t. You get stuck at the bedside. Unless you’re in a leadership role or whatever but really you can’t grow your skillset like you can as a writer.
The biggest thing that was harder for me to make my business grow was to delegate. Delegation is something we need to start getting comfortable with. As a bedside nurse, I hate delegating because if I can do it myself, then I want to do it myself. I do not want to say I need help, but I also do want to say do something for me.
When it comes to freelancing, there are things that you have to delegate.
I talked about time in one of my episodes about how to make the best of 168 hours in a week. We are all given the same amount of time but we need to be mindful of what we do in those hours.
Whatever makes your life easier, and gives you more time to spend to make your business grow, then do it.
If you are the CEO of the company, you need to think of the next level by starting to give away things you cannot do anymore – not because you can’t do it, but because you need to use your time for making your business grow.
One of our course graduates who have made her writing business grow is Julie Scott. She made 6-figures in her first year. She started her first two articles at $500 and keep pitching and going.
Time is going to help you grow. You have to keep nourishing your business. You have to keep pitching to clients. Do the repeat cycle that we also do inside our membership group. If you go to the Plan, Produce, Profit course, you’ll see that there’s a repeat that we do on client onboarding, signing a contract, and other things to help your business grow.
